
Stefanie Titus is a South African narrative producer and curator specialising in long and short form writing, editing and multimedia curation. With a current focus on impact communication; her work sits at the intersection of storytelling, ocean advocacy, multimedia production and impact reporting.



A former director of the #SeaTheBiggerPicture Ocean Initiative, Stefanie facilitated its Defenders of the Blue ocean access programme, using storytelling and diving as tools for transformation.

In publishing, she has held roles as a beauty features writer for Balanced Life, MAN, ClubX, FitLife, Rooi Rose (Afrikaans content), Woman&Home and Garden&Home.



Seven months later she joined Balanced Life magazine as Editor-in-Chief; profiling women including singer and entrepreneur Leanne Dlamini (End Girl Hate, August 2022), the late Zoleka Mandela (A Personal Legacy, October 2022), and body-positive icon, Candice Manuel (Embrace Your Curves, November 2022) — her cover story on Leann Strauss Balancing Love, Loss and Everything in Between, featured in the April 2022 issue of SA Woman&Home.



Following Balanced Life’s departure from Habari Media, she was appointed the first woman of colour to serve as editor of SA Garden&Home (November Issue 2022 — January 2024), where she championed sustainability and circular design during her tenure.






Pitching a hybrid publication to NEWF led to a role leading a new communications strategy, then shifting to focus exclusively to long-form narrative development at at NEWF; Stefanie has had an opportunity to engage in strategic work for NEWF x Africa Refocused at the National Geographic Society HQ in Washington.





In 2023 she founded The Writers Table, a supportive digital space for creative exchange which has since pivoted to a curation project. One [Story] Apart, which released teasers in November 2025 – the first features are set to release in 2026.

She has – and continues to – produce impact stories and video scripts for NEWF. To date, she had launched a stream of tailored newsletters on mailer platforms and LinkedIN, and special digital campaigns such as the month long 2024 World Ocean’s Day Awaken New Depths campaign.
Alongside her long-form human-centered profile stories, she contributes to Art Direction for brand stories, playbooks and special reports, as well as press release content and strategic platform development to amplify the NEWF community.




ArcGIS-powered impact measurement and community building prototype under the technical mentorship of Information Technologist Adam Jenkins — exploring the possibilities of this project has deepened her interest in leveraging spatial tools as an impact and storytelling medium in future projects.

In April 2025, she co-produced and moderated ‘In Conversation with Kamau Sadiki’ at #NEWF2025 — in an intimate, moving conversation, they explored how documenting the past brings stories about the African experience to life, fostering healing and ushering in a new era of connection between Africa and the Diaspora.

She moderated a post-screening Q&A for Capturing Water by Rehad Desai, shown at the Labia as part of the 2025 Edition of Encounters Documentary film festival for which she contributed to seasonal documentary reading.


In August 2025 she lead a post-screening Q&A for Umhlaba Wokhokho by Nondumiso Masache (filmmaker and founder of Zenkosi Films) at the 2025 LARC uMhlaba Film Festival hosted by the University of Cape Town.


Stefanie recently co-developed and facilitated a curriculum for ‘Effective Science Communication for Western Indian Ocean Scientists: Bridging the gap between science and society’ – the 5-day workshop hosted by Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique, with grant support from Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA).

She reimagined Audience Analysis to Audience Listening, Storytelling Techniques to Embracing the Power of Storytelling and and Communication Tools and Media to Awakening New Depths – together they focused on storytelling and communications techniques designed to equip participants with hands-on experience in translating complex scientific findings into accessible, impactful and highly visual messages tailored to meaningfully connect with diverse audiences while holding community-inclusivity and ethical values at the heart of the work.

Passionate about amplifying Indigenous and African narratives and ethical collaboration; Stefanie draws on anthropological sources, collaborative African-led creative work including but not limited to art, design, food and film to craft compelling, visually driven impact stories.
